orientation of auger when transporting?

I never put a lot of thought into this until last year.

A friend of mine got mad when i set his auger down on the handle with his gas tank facing up, and not down toward the ice. Granted the auger was new, its a 2 stroke, and the sales rep told him to always have the gas tank facing downwards when transporting. I have never paid any attention to which way I have sat down my model 30 and I have never had a problem with it.

So is there any actual truth to as why you should have your gas tank orientated a certain way when transporting your auger?

I transport mine with the 2 nubs facing down as if you were to sit it on the ice

My older Pro 4 has to sit spark plug up because oil will run into the cylinder and foul the plug.

I’m pretty sure it doesn’t matter for 4 stroke Strikemasters, but in the 2 stroke Lazer SM there is a breather tube in the gas tank so it’s best to keep the cap of the tank always facing up when transporting so gas doesn’t run down into the breather tube

I always store mine with the gas cap up so it wont leak if the cap isnt on tight or something.

Gas cap up so incase it leaks. Seems like common sense to me.

The older Strikemaster 4 Strokes (non Honda Motor) had to be transported with the plug facing up, the new Honda 4 strokes it does not matter.

The only reason to worry about a 2 stroke is if gas might leak out the cap.

Gas cap up on my Tanaka. I’ve transported it other ways with no ill effects, but it has become a habit for me.

Gas cap up for me since the cap on my old SM with Tecumseh power head leaks a little.

2 stroke won’t matter, except if there is a leak issue. If your buddy got mad over that I dot know what to tell you. I guess I would be looking to turn it the opposite way when he is not looking just to irk him. devil

Basically it’s personal preferences unless your dealing with oil leaking issues. This is what I though.

I can understand not wanting your carb close to the ice/slush.

I’ve always stored my Jiffy 2 stroke artic blast, with the cap up so it doesn’t leak and have never had a problem
