Opinions on Monsterbass or Mystery Tackle box?

So I tried these for 3 months I was fairly impressed with the Monsterbass box. I like the variety always has 1 lure that is spendy I think i’m getting a good deal something fun to look forward to. You tend to get a lot of crawfish plastics which is OK I use as trailers but dont go thru to many bags. Plan on keeping it unless funds become challenged. Mystery tackle box seems to be more of a bargain bin clean up sale. I got one at Walmart for walleye not a huge eye guy but what the heck it had a huge 1 once dardevle spoon in it? Really? I can hardly get bass to hammer a spoon. 1 spinner rig whoopie some blakemore jig heads these are good. I canceled the Mystery box you can buy better tackle and cheaper also one hard bait split in 2. Anyone else have it or think it’s worth the fun?

After seeing the Karl guy on you tube I lost respect funny maybe coffee

I heard good things about the 6th sense subscription.

All them are way over price in my opinion

i had a buddy who got the walleye ones from a few of them. so little walleye stuff came in them after about 4 months he was done.

he was really high on all the bass ones too. but after he canceled his walleye one, i also mentioned that it appears he has a pile of unused lures that seem like something he would never ever use piling up and wouldn’t it be better to just buy more of what you do use? he thought i was crazy but eventually stopped buying all of them.

Exactly. I don’t quite understand the draw of the mystery boxes except for maybe the newbs that need to start somewhere and try different things anyways. Still more money than I’d like to spend on a guessing game.

I thought it would be a fun idea for someone who is just started out fishing. But after seeing what they got I decided not to do it again and just buy them the baits I know will work for what they are doing.

It’s just a way for a business to sell things nobody wanted in the first place. They make it seem like a good deal but for ones money, one can spend it much better buying things they actually need to catch the species they are after. Many hobbies have “mystery boxes” and they are all full of garbage nobody wants. Every once in a great while I’ve heard of people getting something of actual value or something that was indeed “unique” but for the most part you’re just paying to throw away someone else’s trash.

i thought maybe it was just the old person in me finally getting the best of me. But I’m like that can’t be it, i try new things all the time in the world of walleye and ice fishing.

but for this guy, he fishes a ton. he’s single and fishes 3-4 times a week throughout the year, and even still he has boxes of this crap.

that wasn’t what really got him to stop though, he started getting repetitive stuff. like the same crankbait in a different color.

Good points here I think I will cancel. I just looked at all my stuff and your right half of it I wouldn’t use anyway. If I save the cash I could get a nice locator for the front of my boat. I bet that will help me catch more fish grin

A 4 month subscription might make an interesting gift.

Mosterbass is much better than MTB in my opinion. Much more variety in their lures and get deeper into the delves of bass lures than MTB does.

That being said, I don’t use any of them anymore. Where I think they are a good idea is if you are trying a new species/type of fishing and need to build up a solid arsenal in a couple months. These will get you started.
