Nice grimruis! That’s a good day. I have to chose very carefully when I can go up there with a 17 ft bass boat. Hoping to find some time to sneak up there before the good spring bite shuts down. Were you getting them on shallow rock bars?

I have to be careful when I go there too and pick the right day with only an 18 foot boat. I really have no interest in battling 3 footers.

I caught them in about 6 feet of water on broken rock/sand. I saw another boat tossing orange jerk baits and they caught a couple small ones so I started using a neon colored one too and within 3 casts hooked into one. I generally use more natural colors. It was 62.5 degrees and I saw some beds but didn’t see any fish on them. Here’s some photos. They were all prespawn females.

I’ve found chartreuse and orange are really solid for smallies. They seem to like the brighter colors. I know chartreuse really makes them made for some reason.

I actually don’t even own an orange jerk bait because I scoured my tackle for one when I saw them using it. The closest I had was neon yellow. I think it may be called clown pattern.

    Pink x raps are dynamite.
