Open water walleye trolling

    Any tips fromyou guys that fish open water when they are feeding on tullibee . I’ve tried it on one of our local lakes that’s loaded with 8-12 inch tullibee and marked fish and watch tullibee rise to surface in 80 feet at dark and caught a pile of big northerns , but no walleye . I’ve been using a 12 husky jerk . Any advice on moon faces, depth of life , speed ? Just looking for some reinforcement to keep trying it

    Lidners just posted a video on youtube about doing this. I haven’t tried it but looks like it would be a blast. Id like to hear of some more info on it as well

    I saw that video awesome . I mean I know it’s something where you gotta put in time just wanna make sure I’m spending my time efficiently

    I fished a lake that had similar conditions one time. In the evening when the tulibee were rising we ran shallow running cranks far back from the boat(150′) and then ran planner boards 75-100′ feet from the boat so we were not spooking the fish near our lures. Might be worth a shot, but you have to have a lot of room to fish with that set up.
