open water soon

Are lakes here in NE should open thru the weekend it looks like so hoping to get out soon and play and practice with the livescopes, have not done it much in the cold water so looking on thoughts on what you would try first?And this will be pre spawn also. casting jig and minnows, finisher jigs blade baits or vertical jigging some of the same? Gonna try all off it i think but just getting ur thoughts . Thanks in advance guys.

For crappies?

I’d focus on the north and west sides of lakes that are warming quickly. A crappie minnow under a float with a small jig has always worked for me. If they are really snapping you don’t need a minnow. Just a little hair jig or plastic with some movement. Give it a couple pops and let it sit. Repeat until you get bit.
