I know this year I’m staying awake on New Year’s Eve. Not so much to welcome 2021, but to make sure 2020 goes away. By far one of if not the craziest year’s years in my lifetime. I sure hope we don’t see another one like it the rest of my life.

For me this year has truly been that “the best of times and the worst of times” deal.

It’s sure has been one heck of year.

This is the best way I’ve heard 2020 described. Agree 💯%

I can’t complain to much about 2020. Lots of good fishing trips. Made plenty of money. Its December, 40 degrees out and still plenty of open water. Caught more 28+” walleyes this year than I thought ever possible.

Just hard to find something to complain about.

I can’t wait to see 2020 gone. Not for myself, but for everyone in this country and my friends and family abroad who have had to deal with this terrible year.

Unfortunately, it isn’t going to get better on New Year’s Day. As Churchill said, “Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.”

I have summed up my own situation throughout this pandemic as suffering from a severe lack of anything to complain about. Business has been good, Mrs. Grouse still gainfully employed, family healthy, nobody in the family has had the cove. What else can I ask for?

I hope all our families stay safe and healthy all the way into the New Year and to the real end of this thing.

I’ve been pretty fortunate this year. Lots of inconveniences but that’s about it. I know lots of people have taken a huge hit this year and I sincerely hope 2021 is a good year for them. I have a feeling 2021 is gonna have a pretty rough start. Hopefully things level out a bit.

I foresee the first 1/2 as being as bad or worse with the fallout of the holidays. The stock market will likely have another major drop. I hope like heck to be wrong.

The thing I’m most looking forward to is not having politics dominate the year. I really hate how pervasive the elections have become. I am enjoying not having to hear about any of it and look forward to that next year as well.

It will be nice to have the Olympics to focus on next summer, should they go on. A full baseball season, regardless of if there are fans in seats or not. That will be very nice.

I’d suggest everyone stay in new years Eve. I have a funny feeling it’s going to be a mess with people partying hard.

2020 has been one of the best years of my lifetime. 4 months off paid and guilt free fishing from March to June on P4. gas at under a dollar to get there! I realize it has been rough in many ways but 2021 aint gonna be any better. We will see the fallout from 2020 in full circle all year. I am not looking forward to tax season but I will worry about it in spring. I hope everyone in the IDO family will pull through and bounce back even stronger!

That said, I’m with Grouse on this one. We’ve been fortunate here, financially and health related. 2020 has certainly had it’s stresses and disruptions to life for us, but overall we have to consider ourselves lucky, as so many have truly suffered. I bitch a lot, but I have to pause sometimes and count my gratefuls. Thanks for the reminder Grouse!

2020 has been a great year for us.

I took a new job that’s much closer to home, with very little out of town work.

My wife finished her BSN and is going for her master’s to become a nurse practitioner.

They boys are happy and healthy.

I shot a monster buck with the bow.

And most importantly, we boated the biggest lake trout and biggest walleye I’ve ever seen in person! waytogo

We cannot complain too much about 2020, but I try to look at things from other peoples’ perspectives as well and understand that our country is hurting. I hope the New Year either brings you and your family a better year, or continued success and happiness.

    Highlights of 2020:
-addition of our daughter to the family
-more time spent outdoors as a family than ever before
-added a tritoon to the toy department
-work was crazy busy for both the Mrs. and I
-everyone has been healthy, a few relatives with Covid but none who haven’t overcome it

    Lowlights of 2020:
-saw far fewer relatives than any other year of my life
-seeing our country become so divided (more so than ever in my lifetime)
-cancelled 2 trips (1 due to covid, another due to a family member’s non covid related death)
-wife is a charge nurse at the hospital and works with Covid patients daily causing crazy stress

I do think 2021 will be better for many, but probably not the beginning of the year. I would like to think by Summer we will start turning the page on an 18 month period that will be the craziest we will ever see as a society.

While I don’t believe a person should put their life on hold, I personally thank God I’ve made it to the end of this year. Way, way, way too many have not because of this disease, even some who we knew here. My heart goes out to their families and friends. Those in the medical field have worked and seen daily deaths and devastation at epic levels. I am blessed to have directly avoided what others have endured. God bless everyone over the holidays. I for one will celebrate them in a very subdued way. It’s the least I can do. I hope 2021 is better for everyone, I know it won’t be, but I can still hope.

Crossing the fingers things go better in 2021. I hat to say it was a good year on my end with how many people were affected by the virus and lost lives. This year we had a lot of family time together and took up both turkey hunting and downhill skiing this year which have been great. Got in a full youth football season that was a blast and had a lot of camping adventures. All in all it was a pretty good year granted we haven’t had the virus hit our household that we know of.
