Online advertisements everywhere

Have you noticed how pervasive online advertisements are these days? And I’m sure getting worse.
You can hardly view any video links with having to suffer through an advertisement. Many dont even offer a “skip add” button. I close them down immediately. The so called FREE APPS from the Android app store are really sneaky. They offer you a free app or game then you have to suffer through advertisements constantly. They even offer an option to remove ads but it costs $2.99!!!!

If this is where the online experience is heading then sooner or later people are going to start losing interest like I already am. Either that or they are purposely creating another market so money can be maid avoiding it. Scam.
I’m talking about surfing and Droid apps/games. Nothing to do with this website.

It’s getting worse. Pretty much all of my Android apps have annoying advertisements. I don’t mind the quiet still images as much as the stupid lengthy videos that play automatically! Word With Friends is a fun game, but the advertisements for Game of War are getting REALLY annoying! I’m pretty sure a few of the paid games I purchased a while back, now have some ads in them that didn’t used to be there. So much for paying money to be ad-free..

Hmm, back in the day when people read newspapers, did they complain too. How about tv commercials?

As a person who works in advertising, I can tell you, the money goes where the people go. I worked in newspaper until that started to die and I moved to TV. Now I am seeing the same thing with TV. As long as YOU keep going to web sites, there will be ads. That is how they make money. Yes, even our lovely IDO site here as ads. Sure people have complained about ads since they started, but they sure must work or companies wouldn’t be paying BIG $$$ for them. For all that say they don’t work on you — how much of the stuff that you own is advertised somewhere, somehow. HMMM I would guess over 95% of it. Even as a TV ad guy, I still fast forward commercials and hit the skip ad button on the internet, but I understand that is how the business world works. As all things in life, I try to find the good things about it and don’t sweat the other stuff. Hey, another reason to GO FISHING -)

I do feel the same way. I can wait 5 seconds for the skip ad to get enabled so I can hit it.

I am sure online marketers and advertisers are pretty sensitive to negative outcomes from things that are invasive and counter productive. One I saw not too long ago forced you to choose an ad to watch before viewing the content, but you had to watch the whole thing. As if choosing would some how make it less intrusive feeling to the viewer.

I think of all the goofy schemes over the years and you know, “the market” works because the awful and ineffective ones went away.

rotflol Exactly what I thought Ralph!

As far as newspaper ads, they don’t impede the readers progress.
