All of you have really reinforced me for asking questions here so I am going to give it another go. I will be heading back up to Rainy for one last trip this summer on the 16th, 17th, and 18th of September and staying out on Blueberry Island. I have fished May, June, July, and August on Rainy, but this is my first September trip. When I have been up around blueberry later in the summer we fished the reefs with good success. That’s my plan this time too, but I welcome any advice for fishing at this time of the year.

I go up the first week of October and we usually fish the reefs with a jig/minnow (or shiner) when the wind allows for it. We haven’t had much luck east of Blueberry other than the reef that is right on the east side of the island. When the wind makes reef fishing tough, we stay near the Brule Narrows

You might try some deeper flats adjacent to reefs or even isolated deep flats. When I say deep I am talking 32 to 40 feet…
