Okay, you get one rod and reel combo for hardwater. Chasing all species minus lakers. Yes I realize this is a broad opinionated topic but I am just curious what you guys have found or feel like is a great stick for gills to eyes and all between. Jigging light up to probably at the most 1/8 to 3/16. I feel like there are many pannie rods that have the backbone to rip eyes as well. Just curious whay you guys think would be your go to

Just my opinion but a medium action rod, keep in mind every manufacturer’s med rods or any action differ. 28 inch would be a good start if you fish in a portable or outside. If your fishing panfish you’ll need to use light line and add a spring bobber, as you move up to larger fish change to a heavier line,if I it was me I’d buy the best rod in your budget

You must be crazy. You have to have at minimum four rods for each species. You need a rod for jigging, a rod for a slip bobber, a rod for your i fish pro. A rod for a dead stick, a rod for drop shoting. I’m sure I’m missing a few but one one rod for every species will put companys out of business. This isn’t the seventys. Seriously though my pick would be a fenwick elite tec medium with a shimano sienna.

30” TUCR Bullwhip with a size 1000 Shimano Sedona. Hard to beat it’s versatility.

I would have a Thorne brothers perch sweetheart or similar.

TUCR Fusion. Nice pan fish rod, perfect jumbo perch rod and a darn fun walleye rod. I’m taking mine out to Devils Lake next week and put it to work on some jumbo perch and hopefully some nice eyes. They have been getting some brute eyes out there lately.

Mines 28″ with a Sedona 500 reel and 4lb Spider Wire braid. Sensitive enough tip for the light bite and enough backbone for the walleyes.

Does the bullwhip handle 1/8 spoons with no issues? More of a visual rod right?

Combo for chasing the gills to eyes?

Seems like the first group may include more than the second grouping?
I suppose one combo could be used, but why? If cost is an issue, I’d buy two or more moderately priced combos rather than one high end combo and I would end up being better satisfied in my fishing experience.

I guess I meant it really to be like okay you get one rod and one reel to combo up thats it. Pretty much for fun just to see what everyone would roll with. Sort of like this golf tournament I play in where you only get to use 3 clubs so which do you choose but in this case you get one rod and one reel.

Oh that one is easy. I’ve never carried more than one club while golfing. The only time it has been an issue, is possibly on the hole with the windmill. wave

All the rods I’ve got…the one.

The one combo I fished the most is Thorne Bros Panfish Sweetheart with Shimano Chronoarch 50Mg. in avatar right there. Currently spooled with ASSO Micron3 5# line.

Caught everything from 6″ smelt to channel cats measured to 32″ in length so far.

No straight cork grip. The split grip seems awkward to me.

IMO, the split grip is a waste of already limited rod length. It looks totally cool though..

It’s simply not feasible to have one setup for hardwater or open water fishing for any species.

Matter of preference I suppose. I use a pistol grip hold and the gap between the split cork rests right between my thumb and forefinger.

It feels like an extension from my “inner body and soul”… lol

Ultimately, does it help me catch more fish? No…but it feels so good! razz

I did ask but we all know one just wont cut it. This was insanely hypothetical and curious what everyone would grab if you could only take one setup on the hardwater.

    Maybe you missed that Glenn?

Perhaps pour yourself a smooth relaxing cocktail…

If I could only use one I’d go with my Thorne Bros. 32″ Perch Sweetheart.
The Frabil Quick Tip is also a very versatile rod that I regularly use for everything from gills to walleyes.

That Perch Sweetheart has gotta be the most versatile rod.
