50 year anniversary one year from today.
I find it sad that it’s hardly remembered any longer.
If you are intrigued by the event and want the most in depth information on it, look up (I’m not going to try to post a link) History Mystery Man Edmund Fitzgerald on youtube and watch all the videos with Captain Darrell Walton. Disgusting how it was and still is covered up.

One of my kids favorite songs. He loves the history around the old Edmund Fitzgerald

Love the history, lore, and of course the Gordon lightfoot song.

You can also find the radio transmissions between captain cooper of the USS Arthur M. Anderson and the coast guard from the night it went down on YouTube. It’s pretty eerie.

    “We’re holding our own…”

One of my crew member’s Grandfather was one of those that lost their lives that day (before he was even born).

Nolan Church, a porter from Silver Bay was one of the 29. I work with his grandson every day.

Before we moved north the boys and I have always had an interest in The Fitz, even though none of us were alive when she went down.

Ben has paintings of her on his bedroom walls, and believes that she hit the 6 Fathom Shoal (I’m in agreement, but there’s constant speculation). They’ve watched more documentaries about it than most of us probably ever will.
