I love when fish go after baits out of their league!

I think that’s pretty common. As a kid I remember sunfish popping and pecking away at a Bassarino. They will routinely grab a 5″ Senko and go on a ride until they let go. Just not easy to hook them on the bigger baits.

Gordon, what kind of lure is that? I like the looks of it.

Was thinking the same thing…the lure looks like a shiner.

Panfish are territorial especially in spring. the males will protect the nests no matter the cost. Easy fishing when they are on beds.

Haven’t had many sunnies on cranks but have gotten a fair amount of crazy crappies hitting cranks over the years

That lure looks like a Rapala Shadow Rap to me.

The small sunnies and crappies were crazy this last weekend. We were trolling over tops of weeds at about 3mph. Those were pics of 2 but we probably caught a dozen like that.

‘gills are aggressive territorial fish, more so than bass (have had both in my aquarium) he was probably not thinking of you bait as food but as competition

It’s a salmo. Dug it out of the fleet farm clearance bin a year or so ago. I think I paid a whole $3 for it.

It’s also the only thing the muskies wanted to look at last Saturday.

Edit: figured out the model. It’s a salmo warrior 15 in real sucker pattern. I can’t find that color scheme for sale online, but did find these
