I got an email today claiming it’s in the mail. Possibly here on Monday.

    Hope so

Good to hear someone received their reel. Still waiting on my second try.

well I got my reel a few weeks ago, and last night I got home from fishing and couldn’t belive it. My omen rod tip had snapped! somehow in the 2 hour drive home my rods bounced around enough in the boat that my Omen snapped. I liked the rod but now I have to decide if its worth sending it in.

anyone else broken theirs yet? or is it just me?

That stinks. I have been using one of the rods I purchased with no issues yet. I don’t plan on lifting any fish over 14 inches into the boat using just the rod though. I did read online reviews that stated some have snapped by the tip. Thought I read they were hollow inside too.

I did get one of my reels last week and sounds like the other is on the way.

If i break one i probably won’t send it in, but if you really like the rod it seems to make sense to send it in.

Uh. I hate to admit this but….

I broke mine before even using it. Cuz I’m an idiot.

Totally my fault. Basically I dropped it from the rafters on to cement. Broke tip and one guide. Sigh.

Fortunately found a place in Rochester (wild goose) that fixed it same day for 10 bucks.

Note to self. Stop dropping rods on cement.

I bought two omen rods because of this thread and somehow overlooked the reel rebate. The UPCs are long gone so I missed the opportunity for two free reels. Doh!

No problems with the omens yet. They’re great rods.

just a follow up to this thread, after a year of use, I snapped the tip off 2 more times, so now I just cut it off at the second to last eye and we shall see how it goes now. This is the only rod that I have broken in the last 6 years!

hope everyone else is having better luck with theirs, at least the price was right for me.

Same $50 deal was back on at my local fleet farm last week. Might be worth checking yours out or calling to see.

I do not own any open water rods from 13, but from reports on other forums and FB groups, there seems to be a recurring theme of broken rods coming from them…much, much more than other mfg’s…Anyone else notice or experience that?

I have 2 rods, an omen casting and a cheaper spinning defy rod. Got them because they look sweet and I love my ice rod which I have had zero problems in 5 years. Had the defy spinning for a year and last fall busted the tip while pushing it into my storage locker. It barely fit so I consider it my fault….no worries, I just cut it off at the next eye and have noticed no loss of feel. Actually it fits in my locker now!

Then this spring as I was casting, the stupid knob at the base broke clean off at the fiberglass part. I personally hate rods with the knobs at the base so this was an improvement in design. I quickly went on eBay and got a beautiful handle for peanuts and I got to say it may be my favorite rod now? I’ll bump this if it breaks again Ha Ha!

Overall they seem cheap but the one I got seems to have broke for the better and fits nicely in my boat now! No problems with my casting rod which is also fairly new but I rarely use it. My buddy has had nothing but problems with his but I believe he got it all hashed out before Gander closed.
I will be buying all my future rods from Fenwick from here on out though. Best looking and best feel rods I’ve had in my hands and the customer service is second to none.

Same brand, different rod -> No experience with these rods, but did note that Reeds in Walker had the Omen musky rods on sale for 99.99 this past week. Roughly 20 of them in stock. If folks are interested in them, that may be a decent buy for you.
