Fitting time I think for a fun post for all those who are running ‘dinosaur’ equipment, let’s say boats that are 15+ years old. They may not be the fanciest or prettiest things on the block but I’ve not found a fish that cares.

This one is mine, 2001 1600 pro sport. Currently buried behind a bunch of other stuff in the shop but this picture was from a spring or two ago right after I got it out for spring. Bought it in 2013 and upgraded all the electronics at that time, she needs new carpet but runs like a top.

2003 Jetcraft. When I retired in 2016, I took some of my payout money and had the boat painted inside and out.

I used to have a 16′ 91 Forrester just for myself but over the winter upgraded to a modern 22′ 2002 Hurricane.

1982 Lund Pike 18 DLX. Been a great fishing boat. Had to replace the 1978 75HP Evinrude on it this year.

I honestly love the old boats more than the new ones in a lot of ways. Seeing an old Lund, Crestliner, or Alumacraft says Minnesota to me. Hard to put into words.

Age is less of an issue than the kind of miles, all highway or stop and go traffic. And then there is how many times the odometer has flipped.

1987 Alumacraft lunker dlx and with original 87 mariner 25hp. Have replaced most of the original stuff on it over the years but it has been a great boat for me. Bought the boat when I was 17 I’m 37 now. Recently upgraded to a bigger boat but kept this one for my kids to use.

    old toys???
my new to me rig is still like new as it never got used, heck,I bet there is less than fifty hours on it or the motor!!
sun faded a bit, sure, but there is literally no wear in the carpet, the cylinders still have the factory cross hatch in them, everything still looks new in it.

1996 Starcraft Superfisherman 170 with a Merc 75 hanging on the back.
yes,it needed four new live well pumps and a new bilge pump but she runs flat out perfect, like rescue pets, she needed a good home, gotta love an old boat!!
now,if only I could do a little tuning on my wife,I would go out in a blaze of glory totally dehydrated.

‘94 Explorer. I thought when I stopped working on the road I needed a boat. That was 6 years ago. Ran probably 5 tanks of gas through it since. Drives my wife nuts sitting in the driveway. I keep adding stuff to it. She keeps telling me I should sell it. 😂. Each spring I say this is the year I’m going to use the $hit out of it. But summer gets so busy. These are the photos I keep in my phone in case I decide to sell it. 🤷‍♂️

1978 Tuffy Muskie Rampage with a 1985 90hp Evinrude VRO. I just pulled it out of storage and started the motor Friday. Cranked over about 3 time and was purring very loud. The trailer needs some fresh paint. Last year I bought a newer truck so the 1996 Silverado is now gone.

Eyestudent that’s a great boat, my FIL sold his with a 75hp last year. Yours with that 100 must perform wonderful.

Might be dropping my ol gal off at a mechanic shop to be sold this coming week. Gonna be tearful as usual, we’ve been thru alot in our short time together.

I was beginning to wonder if we’d ever hear from you again? Glad to see you have not abandoned us entirely. wink

Yes, I remember you telling me your FIL had the same boat. Unfortunately, as soon as I pull mine out of storage…I’ll be taking it straight to Lyback’s in Isle. sad

What’s up with the Phantom? Are you thinking of modernizing?

Can’t fit it in backyard from alley. Bummer, put alot of work into er to make it all new again.

Going to same vintage 16-17′ tiller. If anyone has one to sell this spring? Love to find an Alumacraft backtroller again but longer.

Beads, the solution isn’t to sell the boat……it’s to buy a bigger garage with yard. wave

Looks like MNdrifter might already be on the fence about selling his boat, just what you could be looking for. He might even consider “blue smoothies” as partial trade? smirk

All depends on how much it’ll cost me to get it fixed. neutral
