Hang around here and you will realize fishing hasn’t changed in 50 years. Only the gear and what we pay.
Information that was relevant 10 years ago gets recycled and is relevant today, so no reason to delete anything.
Maybe if you fish lakes the fishing hasn’t changed, rivers change all the time. Mississippi changes every year.
IDO is great because of all the old posts. If they were deleted, the site would not be what it is today.
Question for you, Do you go and delete or toss out all of your family photos after 3 years?
-J.
What does deleting posts accomplish? You can pick and choose what you click on. There are many younger (and even some older) members who go back and research the old threads looking for new to them info. I see no harm in that.

Only those photos of family members who are no longer with us. No longer relevant, right?
please note; ALL SAID IN SARCASM
.
Didn’t realize I was going PO a bunch of people with a simple question, you would think I said something bad about the Pope. Sorry I did not realize you were all so sensitive. I will see if my post can be deleted.

Oh, it will still be here three years from now,,,,, for reference.
I guess the only time outdated posts need to be removed are the ones pinned to the top of the forums. For instance in the Minnesota Metro forum there is an old thread from 2016 that has been ignored

I just un pinned that post for you. Thanks for the heads up. LMK if there are other like that. Even us mods don’t read every post/forums!

@grizz234 Just reading this now. I don’t see anyone PO…just the normal screw balls explaining the reasons to keep old posts.
I know for me when I read a “what I consider silly question”, I take a step back to when I first started catfishing. I went back to 2001 and read every post going forward to the current date. I don’t think a person could do that over one winter like I did back then. There was/is so much info held in the bowels of Ido it was/is amazing. (Not too many photo’s back then!)
I forget there are people just coming to fishing sites to learn fishing and all of it’s different branches just as I did. There are some that would rather just ask a question and others that would just rather go back through the archives. Chances are the question has been asked and answer many times before.
So thinking in those terms, the archives of Ido should be listed as a national treasure.
How much would people pay if James made a book, categorized by species and filed by date of all the fishing reports in those archives? Of course have to have the comment section!
I’d pay easily $100. Seriously.
I also could probably be commissioned to make this happen
Bk- I’ve been doing that exact thing. People have shared numerous tips and technique on fishing through out the years. I’ve gone back and read posts on whatever I may be after. Mississippi catfish or walleye, or if im going to a new lake for the first time. Haven’t made it through mille lacs threads yet, because I may need anti depressants to do so. Haha
