Old boat gas.

    Don’t have equipment to remove 25 gallons of 10 month old gas in my ranger. Are there places in the metro that remove/discard old gas?

    10 months don’t seem that bad IMO. take it to a lake and burn it off if you are worried. was it left untreated? with all the additives in gas these days, I wouldn’t bat an eye.

    Has the blue marine stabil in it. I did take out about 1/2 a gallon by removing the gas line from the motor & pumping the bulb, it was tinted yellow & kinda looked like lacquer. The motor fires instantly but worried this will create issues.

    Either siphon it out 5 gallons at a shot and dump it in your truck or run it down low and add fresh non oxy gas and run some more.

    If someone has the equipment to siphon/remove, they get the gas. I’m in St. Louis park but would bring the boat where needed.

    10 months and Stabil? I wouldn’t even think twice about just running it.

    Gasoline is yellowish.

    If it was non-oxy fuel then I would also just run it. If it was regular oxy fuel then I might consider the effort of getting it out of there.

    I would either just run it or take some out, put in my truck then fill back up with fresh.

    Just fill it up with non oxygen 91 octane and run it. Older gas loses octane so adding premium will raise the octane of your older gas.

    I NEVER run ethanol in my boat, 91 is stable way longer than alcohol gas. Had an argument with my brother who said premium is a hoax. He had to drain his 20 gal tank this spring because the gas smelled like paint thinner and the motor wouldn’t start. I have a 40 gal tank and I run it on the low side in late fall.. add Seafoam the last time using it and then fill with fresh 91 in the spring. Never an issue. I’m a mechanic for a living. I work on stuff that is stored with ethanol gas in it. It looks like a D cell battery that leaked in your flashlight. 87 or 89 is ok for vehicles that don’t sit for 6 -8 months without being used but not boats… especially carb models.

    spot on, I do the same, there’s a reason they make ethanol resistant gas lines for small engines.it will wreck lines,and rubber in short amount of time.
