Still can’t figure out the glitch in this forum and often the time it takes to post/re-post is nuts. more than 75% of the time, I can not add pictures from my laptop but can from my phone. Repeated replies to get one to go through, and seems as if I add a link it gets flagged or goes to cyber hell to die. Weird

I still have the same issues with quotes. 50% of the time they work 100% of the time.

Pretty sure I’ve posted this before but the things I’ve noticed that are likely to not work are:

    – double quoting / quote within a quote
    – quoting a smiley
    – link in a quote
    – more than 1 link total in a post

If you highlight text before pressing the quote button it will only quote that selection. That way you can give context for your reply without getting all the other poop in quote and needing to delete the problem stuff out of it.

Also if you post a picture it often doesn’t show up right away. You don’t need to post it again, just wait a minute and it will process because this forum apparently runs on a potato.

Lol yeah, it’s nothing fancy around here but that’s just how she goes on a dying forum board.

Randy I havent gotten that error in a while. Its been a long time actually. The quoting and replying and attachments is a constant battle and I have generally figured out a way around those.

Smaller image files post 100x better – I find screenshotting the picture before posting is the quickest/easiest way to drastically reduce image file size

The guy that does some maintenance around here made a positive impact the last time he posted about reworking some things. It seems like in the past when maintenance was done it’d be good for a few months, and then need to be revisited again.

As the saying goes ” it is what it is ” just have to make due the best we can. Just glad we still have the site still up and running.

I get the timeout thing sometimes, but I think it’s meaningless. Because my post still goes through even though it says it timed-out.

As far as the site in-general, I noticed I’m now getting logged out after every site visit instead of stying logged in. This was an issue about I year ago, I feel?

And load times seem longer switching in-between forums, etc.

x3 and if I get a timeout or it doesn’t post, I can hit the Back button and my post will reappear and allow me to edit it to remove whatever I’d guess caused the issue.

So many times I have typed out a big quote response and it doesn’t take.
Its not like they can work on fixing things. This website is a dead end road and we are the only ones living on it.

I get that also when posting pictures, even reduced in size ones.
I’ve found that if I go out of the forum then log right back on, for some reason it’s posted.
If you stay on waiting to post, you could wait forever and we have fiber internet.

I posted the same issues last year…it’s in the QA forum. Bottom line, as others have mentioned, unfortunately this forum is going to slowly become obsolete and there ain’t no third party warranty.

In the meantime, let’s try to rile Dutchy’s feathers as much as possible.

This is true I believe 100% of the time.

Now this part had me interested so I just tried it twice with this quote and it didn’t work. Possibly because I’m on mobile/iphone? It sucks always having to go into the full quote and cut out sections of it.

Another little trick I use is if I have written a lot of text in a post reply—or if I’m quoting/double quoting somebody and/or smileys are involved—I will make sure to highlight and copy (“right click”>copy on desktop, double tap and hold a single word or triple tap and hold a word to highlight entire paragraph, then hit copy on iPhone) the text I don’t want to have to re-type. That way if it doesn’t work I can quickly “paste”(same method as cutting and copying, as described above. From there I can tweak the little things that may have caused it to fail in the first place(as described by Reef).

Hope this is helpful and understandable!

Edit: or as Werm said, if you check immediately and your post/reply didn’t work, just hit the back button. That usually works but I’ll still highlight/copy just in case oftentimes!

Not sure why but this conversation reminds me of Jim Morrison’s line “I don’t know what’s gonna happen, but I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames”

I must luck out. Both my rams take alot of abuse. My gm took almost none before literally trying to grenade.

I have been running repair shops for about 30 years now and can say that right now the last truck I would own is a GM. I own a RAM simply because I got a to good to pass up deal, but it has been pretty solid. I have said it plenty times on here that Toyota makes the best half ton truck in the market. However your continued bashing of RAMS is laughable at best. Also the fact that you inject it into any thread you can is annoying to say the least. Let it go dude.

I think that we should start a list of things that you think are crap. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe we have Ram trucks, Lund boats, Ion augers and the other 3 letter brand auger. I am not sure we can add Ice Castle fish houses since I believe you own one. Let’s get this list going. grin

I didn’t know one’s opinions or honest reviews weren’t allowed here. I don’t recall reading that in the rules. That’s the problem these days. People are so soft and can’t accept anything.
