How do you think off road travel will be when the cold snap breaks? Think a pickup with possible chains on will b able to get around off the road?

I’m sure it will be manageable. Did about 1/2 mile on the west side and almost a mile on the east side with a wheelhouse and no chains last weekend. Avoid the drifts and should be fine if you have good tires. Chains wouldn’t be a problem at all.

I think it’ll certainly be possible. I did a half-mile last week without chains on multiple occasions to get away from the plowed roads.

The issue with Mille Lacs is how it cracks up so commonly, especially after weather changes and high winds, like what we’re having right now and into the weekend.

Every time you take a truck off-road and there’s enough snow to hide potential cracks, you run the risk of dropping a wheel or two into a crack, or worse. Happens every year. It’s a tricky lake. I’d keep off-roading with trucks to a minimum if there’s enough snow cover to hide the cracks.
