I have taken my dad the last 2 years on a weeklong perch fishing trip to Mcardle’s on Winnibigoshish. It’s not exactly my cup of tea, but I don’t know how many more of these I’ll get with him so I’ll take it. My question is, with the way states are adding restrictions on people from other states coming in to them. What is the feeling around Minnesota that there may be some type of travel ban in place? I know it’s months away yet, but I don’t see this improving much between now and then.

It’s all just conjecture and opinion that will have no bearing on your trip so why bother stressing. If it happens you go if it doesn’t you find something else.
August 6, 2020 at 4:53 pm #1963198IMO it all depends on the resort. I’m sure there are a few turning guests away but the ones I have heard about all are operating as normal with just some restrictions in place in public locations such as their lobbies/restaurants.
Unless we turn into New York with major travel restrictions I wouldn’t lose too much sleep.
And heck, if its scheduled for after Nov 4 this will be over then anyway….

I was gonna throw that in there also but…..
RipjiggenPosts: 11548August 6, 2020 at 7:35 pm #1963218Just get your vaccine shot when u walk in to to vote and you should be good to go…
I don’t think Minnesota can afford to turn down out of staters anyway. Otherwise we would have sent those rioters home from the beginning.
Half joking…but if I had to guess you will be fine to fish winni this winter.
August 6, 2020 at 9:37 pm #1963227Take a simple post and turn it into something pretty damn sad ,150,000 dead and its a joke. I got no more words!
RipjiggenPosts: 11548August 6, 2020 at 10:04 pm #1963230Ok ok 70% I was almost as serious as predicting if a MN resort will allow out of state folks 6 months from now.

I’m going to need to replace my keyboard after spitting Dew all over it I laughed so hard. Stay in Wisconsin and keep your head buried in the sand if this offends you! The world isn’t ending.
August 7, 2020 at 9:29 am #1963291I was also a little concerned on what might happen with restrictions. So I booked sleeper shacks for my trips.

Slim and none imo. If they shut down resorts for a winter, the vast majority would be for sale, foreclosed or turned into condos.

I would agree, unless there’s a drastic change in direction.
Early on, mitigation directives were “Stay-in-Place” which most now have been lifted and replaced with mask mandates.
Back in the spring there was legitimate concern with the SIP and that resorts at that time were not allowed to open.
I had family from WI come visit at a resort here in MN a couple weeks ago and most all was business as usual with a few added precautions.
I think as this has all evolved, hotspots have been narrowed down to large gatherings, not traveling to somewhat remote cabins.
You should certainly embrace an ice fishing trip with your dad. When it’s too late…you can’t go back in time.

Small businesses like resorts are getting hammered by anti-science morons. Quit being an embarrassment, man up, and put a mask on so we can reopen.

Well thanks for sharing.
Reopen who is closed in Minnesota?iTinkerPosts: 181August 15, 2020 at 6:56 am #1965377Leading epidemiologists have formed a consensus that fall will bring a second wave of cases coinciding with flu season. This could seriously harm businesses if they pull the same crap ignoring ppe and refusing to abide by protections (distancing) set forth by trained experts with the first wave. We already have shutdowns with the VA and local clinics slowing down on elective surgeries in the midwest. We can’t pull the same crap this fall or many resorts and businesses will go under. I’m sick of hearing about handouts and watching friends who pulled themselves up on their own to build their businesses get hammered with shutdowns because we were too stupid to listen to science. We’re open, but nowhere near where we used to be. Don’t kid yourself.

In 2018 the US had 2,839,205 recorded deaths of which 160,201 were from chronic lower respiratory diseases. To see the true outcome of this virus we have to compare future death rates to normal death rates. Don’t let the media tell you what is happening. Resorts will be open, death from virus or death from financial collapse pick your poison.

This is what our current lawmakers refuse to understand. And I’m deathly afraid it will be the latter.
I really do hope resorts stay open. I’ll do my best to support one or two this winter. Lil guys need to stay around in the biz!
Have been saying to myself for months now not sure how any of this can work when no one is working. The train isn’t rolling. Got an email today on Marriots selling their furniture and other hotel items. I said to myself, so it begins….
August 15, 2020 at 1:36 pm #1965428According to the radio this week Twin Cities traffic is up to 93% of the road load prior to the virus.
So…………….either people are going back to work or people are ignoring the guidelines to shelter in place.
DeucesPosts: 5233August 15, 2020 at 1:54 pm #196543293% of what tho?
I drive metro roads everyday, all around. Traffic is down, has been down, and will only go down as it gets colder.
Got stuck in traffic twice last week, even tho it was short lived, that’s the most since this whole thing began. I was glad to see it quite honestly. But still not even close to what it was prior.
iTinkerPosts: 181August 15, 2020 at 4:01 pm #1965448What don’t you get? The more jackwagons ignoring these guidelines, the slower it takes to fully open and get back to normal. You are literally costing small businesses and resorts money by propogating this thing. None are at capacity yet, and many have seen q1/q2 losses of 30% or more.

Call a popular resort on a popular lake and try and get a room next weekend. I bet you will have to call more than one.

Dutchboy,
Did I miss something or did you?
I thought the ‘shelter in place’ directive was lifted months ago.

I can’t figure what message you’re trying to deliver?
What is it we’re propagating?

Many are propogating the spread of this virus using affiliations with my party. I’m over the nihilist view of picking our poison as if everyone’s fate is sealed, and the “keep your head in the sand” emmy award winners. If people keep refusing to distance or wear PPE, this reopening will end up being a temporary one, and many more businesses will get shut back down for good–including resorts. For god sakes, I’m a confirmed catholic, and I see it every Sunday, which makes me angry and conflicted. Hell, I don’t like wearing a life jacket on the boat but I do it, man up, mask up.
