Odd shelf?

Last summer I bought a 2013 1825 Pro. I have been doing some rigging lately and discovered a odd “shelf” inside my starboard rod storage. It is a carpeted piece of aluminum riveted on the inside of the compartment. It is about half way from the door opening and the front. Id can get in the way sometimes when loading rods. Just wondering if anyone knows what this is?

Could it possibly be a guard to keep the rod tips down and stop them from slamming into the underside of the deck in rough water? Looks like it’s designed to release rods that are set on top of it.

Not sure. My buddy thought it might be for a optional rod tube insert to rest on top of the shelf.

I am not sure what model you are talking about when you say”2013 1825 Pro” but I am guessing that you might be talking about 1825 Pro Guide?

I have a 2013 1775 Pro V and actually put a little shelf like that in my gunnel rod storage so that I can hold 4-5 rods on the top of the locker and another 4-6 at the bottom, but my shelf/aluminum piece is perpendicular to the side it is mounted on so it holds the rods up. Maybe bending it up a bit might allow you some more rod storage?

Sorry yes it is a Pro Guide. I was actually looking at building some rod tubes for in the compartment just wanted to see what this shelf was for before i took it out. Just wondering if it actually serves a purpose or not. It does not reach all the way across compartment.

Have you contacted either Lund or a Lund dealer? You teased us with a puzzle and now we want a definitive answer. grin

Contacted my buddy that use to rig lunds. Even he wasn’t sure. He still works for them part time so he was gonna ask.
