Odd question, what do you prefer tandem axle or single axle trailers?

Just remember you have to license it for the weight going down the road, so even if specs say 2700#, once you fill the fuel tank, cooler, tackle boxes, anchors, everything that is in your boat when it is on the road, that is what it has to be licensed for.

Yep! It don’t take long to add weight, batteries, trolling motor, spare tire. I see a lot of boats on single axle trailers that should be on tandems.
A tandem trailer with also be more gentle on your boat and equipment. Go to a landing and watch the way the boats bounce on the trailer and you’ll see!

You guys were freaking me out when I saw 3,000lb GVWR. I thought it was based on gross vehicle weight, not raiting. Checked the plate on the trailer under my 175 tin boat and it has a 6,000lb GVWR.

Digging more, it looks like it is based on the actual weight of the trailer plus anything on it, GVW, not the trailers rating, GVWR.

That said, I estimate my 175 with a 150 4S to be pushing 2,600lbs loaded. Add the weight of the trailer and it’s cutting it close.

I agree with other’s comments that there are probably a lot of boats on the road with the wrong licenses.
