We are planning a trip around 10/9 to Leech. Typically fish Mille Lacs but changing it up this year. Any recommendations on places to stay that are reasonable priced and on the lake with docks?

What area of the lake/strucrure is most productive in Fall and what techniques work best? Looking for big fish over numbers.

    Thanks in advance!

A lot of the resorts in the LL area have some smoking deals in the fall to attract people. Trappers Landing and Chase on the Lake are two of the nicer places to stay and I didn’t think it was outrageous for 4-5 guys to split up. Brindley’s Harbor is another one to check out.

If you’re looking to get up and fish 12 hour days, don’t really care too much about the type of place, the Lakeview in right in DT Walker is the spot a lot of the fisherman stay. Cheap, right in town, and although it doesn’t have docks, it’s literally 100 yards to the public boat ramp right across the road.

Steep breaks and humps in Walker Bay Jig Rapping can be very productive. Rigging and Jigging large chubs on the transitions of the humps and breaks is another good way to catch fish.

Depending on what kind of fall we end up having a lot of the fish could be shallower if it’s an late fall. Pitching jigs and rainbows is a pretty good tactic.

I’m not sure how that Lakeview motel stays in business. What a flea bag, roach motel. Maybe it’s changed but I stayed there a few years back and didn’t even make the whole night. Got up at 4 AM and bailed. Bugs in the bed and everywhere else for that matter. Stains all over everything…looked a murder happened there and they didn’t clean it up afterwards. Smelled like hell and wouldn’t even think of using the shower. It was really bad. Like I said, maybe it’s been sold and reopened since then otherwise, I’d be scared to try that place. Or maybe…I’ve bitched about it on enough web sites that they actually cleaned the dump up ??!!
