The big lake here at Pierre is still froze over but it will start opening up this week. The lake is up 12 feet over the same time last year, there are lots of weeds and trees in the water along the shoreline. This is going to be a great year to catch big pike in the bays. Any where you can find any open water along the shore right now you can catch pike. Most guys will be soaking smelt on the bottom but you can catch some throwing spoons or plugs also. It will get better for casting as the water warms in the next few weeks. The top places for shore fishing are Corps Bay, Spring Creek, Cow Creek and Peoria Flats. These spots are all accessable from shore.
