Received an e-mail that my name was mentioned in a post about lutefisk by Brian K. Thanks Brian, its been a long time. The BOP (Boss of Putz) has given me permission to update you folks on how we are doing. I assume this website has graduated from llamas, pink dresses on motorcycles, and DNA collectors. Ah, for the good old days.

As far as we are concerned, we are doing ok. In 2006 we moved out to a lake near Hutchinson and planned to garden and fish our life away. But as life would have it, things don’t always work that way. Bad things then good things. My daughter and her two boys moved out here to be near us but the day after they came the 8 year old was not feeling well so we took him in and he was diagnosed with leukemia. With no dad involved, I spent the next year with him at Children’s because he almost lost his leg to a staff infection. The good news is that it has now been 5 years and he has been declared cancer free. The BOP came down with a rare form of skin cancer and went through the treatments and it came back once more but they got it again. They said that if you get a cancer this is one of the ones to get because they can treat it. She is doing well for the last 3 years. I’m doing ok except doc says I’m too fat. Too much lutey I guess.

Sorry about bend your ear but here is the fun news. We have good fishing for panfish off our dock in early spring and lots of small lakes to fish when the bite turns on. Brian suggested that I be the Hutch reporter for this website but they shoot you out here if you publish a good bite. Unfortunately, pelicans and cormorants are hurting our fishing even if the DNR won’t admit it.

I’m involved in many activities but mainly my 2 grandsons. They both now know to fish and the 16 year old shot his first deer and caught his first muskie last year and shot his first pheasant this year. The 14 year old chemo kid (I call him) is learning to shoot with open sights before I buy him a rifle with a scope.

I’m keeping busy with various organizations. Lions club (past president), lake association (board member), County Aquatic Invasive Species Committee (District 1 rep), and Minn Deer Hunters Association (chapter president). May have bit off more than I can chew.

Anyway, season greetings to all the old timers on this website. Many good times were had. And lutey is still a good bait for perch through the ice.
