NW Sportshow starts this week at the convention center. If I go to any sport shows this is the one. Have always enjoyed it. Plenty of boats and fishing tackle. So who is going this year? Who is working it and where? Any good deals to check out?

YES I am , especially for the right baked goods ! :]
March 20, 2018 at 3:41 pm #1761239I like this show – sometimes there are some deals to be had but it’s much more enjoyable than the boat show. Plus, the outfitter we do a fly-in trip with is always there and it’s good to catch up with him.
Probably going to bring my almost 3 year old daughter…she’s really getting into boats and outdoor stuff.
March 20, 2018 at 4:18 pm #1761249I’ve never been, so would appreciate some info. How bad are the crowds? It’d likely be my wife, baby in a stroller and I. Do all the major boat brands have a large selection there? We are a year or two out from a new boat and want the FW to give some input on different models before I buy the fishing boat I’ve always wanted

Saturday will be crowded. I go Thursday afternoon because I hate crowds. I will run through the whole thing in a couple of hours. But, I don’t screw around at Reeds, Thorne, Capra’s. PLEASE,PLEASE when you go, don’t be the guy that stops right in the middle of the aisle with the stroller. Stay off to the sides if you are stopping to look in a booth. Other then that there will be a lot of people in and out of the campers and the big boats. Fishing boats you have a lot of lookers. Don’t expect a lot of help. Seems the “pro-staff” are there fulfilling their obligation and to visit with the other pro-staff, not to help with any questions.
My suggestion is to go early or go late. Mid day will be busy no matter when you go.
Have fun!!

I don’t agree with Dutch on all of his points…it’s a bit crowded but not like the boat show. Late morning or evening will be the slowest times but if you are like me you are beholden to the kids schedule. I’ve been able to get time with the sales reps to chat….they are there to sell boats so if you are mildly interested you’ll get your questions answered. Plus, these are outdoors guys and not the recreational crowd so they seem to be more responsive.
I say bring the stroller, have a few beers, and zigzag through the whole crowd. If you have a double wide stroller that’s even better. Bang into a few ankles while you are at it. I’ll be the guy chasing down his daughter as she sprints across the aisles and cuts people off.
(I’m mildly joking, Dutch).
March 20, 2018 at 8:30 pm #1761331It is a big show werm. Couple hrs of just cruising threw and you might get to see everything. If you are going to stop and check things out couple hrs more to a full day. There is a lot to see. Plenty of boats to.
March 20, 2018 at 8:47 pm #1761336I don’t agree with Dutch either. Even though it sucks when something you like is crowded. We all get a chance if you the wide and the stroller see something you like, you better stop and enjoy it. I don’t like crowds either but my wife and I will go some time early day. But it’s your right as much as mine to stop and do what ever we all want. And when I showed Interest to buy my warrior and told them I was serious and not just a talker they all came out and helped me more then I could expect

March 21, 2018 at 11:11 am #1761463Incase anyone is interested both the new Mercury engines will be at the show. The 15-20HP EFI as well as the new V6 175-225 will be located at the Supreme Marine booth.
March 21, 2018 at 11:30 am #1761467Saturday mid morning to sat afternoon typically a zoo, but mostly around the tackle vendors. Generally speaking, stroller time is really no issue with some patience! Always fun day !
March 21, 2018 at 1:24 pm #1761498I’ll be there as its almost a family tradition of ours. We have been going for years. 2 years ago we included my now 5 year old and she loves to go as well. She enjoys the kids area’s painting and the trout pond. Also nice now to talk to sponsors and friends we have made there.
March 21, 2018 at 6:09 pm #1761562If you go right when it opens on Saturday morning, there will be a line at the ticket window. Long, long, long line. So either wait until a bit later to go or buy your tickets in advance online.
It’s always enjoyable but it’s also the exact same every year. Most booths are in the exact same location, same people, etc. But I suppose that’s a good thing too.
I do wish there was more of a variety of things to do and see when you bring family along. Maybe bring down some artifacts from the Freshwater fishing hall of fame, etc. Or more stuff like what is in the DNR building at the State Fair.
Instead, your eyes can kind of glaze over after booth after booth of outfitters and resorts.
March 22, 2018 at 8:22 am #1761646Will make the rounds again Saturday. Expect it to be busy especially with the crappy weather forecasted. Always like the cheap sunglasses guy – 2 pair for $20 bucks is right up my alley.

March 22, 2018 at 9:45 pm #1761819Good time at the show this aftrrnoon. Fun kicking tires on some boats. Check out the plastics at juice baits. Couple high school guys put this together selling plastics.
Make sure to stop by booth 101 and get a raffle ticket to support teen fishing.
March 22, 2018 at 10:20 pm #176182214 bucks to get in…geeze…guess i shouldn’t complain cause i still paid it.

The Code is at the bottom of the listMarch 23, 2018 at 7:34 am #1761840Yep. $14. Still a heck of a lot cheaper than any sporting event or concert. I remember when breakfast at the cafe was 5 or 6 bucks. Thats about $14 now to.We did get some $5 beer after 5 pm yesterday to help offset the cost.
March 23, 2018 at 7:40 am #1761845Yep, $14 to get in, $12 to park, $6 for mini donuts. But ya know….it makes the other stuff you buy seem cheap somehow.
fishdalePosts: 406March 23, 2018 at 8:06 am #1761849Bass pro shop sent me free tickets to the show for some reason. I am going to try to make it but not sure if I will make it.

But how much were the beers?
March 23, 2018 at 8:19 am #1761852Can’t help you with that Matt. Always figured I could drink at home. If you go to the back wall Johnny Walker was giving free booze away.
