The performance of Prairie Island Nuclear Power Plant will be discussed during an open house hosted by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission May 18 in Red Wing.
“Every year we meet with members of the community near the plant to talk about how the facility performed during the previous year and about the NRC’s activities to ensure safety,” said NRC Region III Administrator Cynthia D. Pederson in a news released. “Our resident inspectors stationed at the plant and other members of the NRC staff are looking forward to having a dialogue with local citizens.”
The open house is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday May 18 in the Foot Room of the Red Wing Public Library.
According to the release, the NRC determined Prairie Island operated safely in 2015.
