Took yesterday (Wednesday) off to fish. A very sad day given it was my last day on the water before having to store the boat for the winter (moment of silence).

Caught a few walleye. Not on fire, but sure was fun being on the water in such great weather. And I’m jealous of all those who manage to get out on the water today.
(water temp was around 47 degrees).

Figured I’d share a few photos. Was a bit foggy in the morning. The northern was about 36″ and safely released. Ate a white plastic paddle tail on a jig.

Btw, so the last few times out I’ve tried a bunch of places/techniques that would hold crappie this time of year but haven’t had much luck at all. Given I’ll now switch over to shore fishing for crappie (or the occasional walleye) for a few weeks, any general tips beyond finding rocky shorelines and/or the boat harbors/piers for crappie? Cuz what I’ve been trying just ain’t workin.

    Tight lines.

Down river a bit further in pool 5a, we found crappies over the weekend suspended over deep water, near where we find them through the ice. They were in the top 10′ of water over 16′.
