Out on Waconia today off of Keg’s Reef casting a #5 rip’n rap and got a bite while the lure was falling to the bottom. When I set the hook I thought I had hit the jackpot with a huge walleye. It put up a really good fight and wouldn’t come up for a while but once it got tired I was able to land the strangest walleye I have ever seen. I didn’t know sheepshead were only in the river.

Yup there is a alot of them in wackey specially fun a slip bobber with the kids.
We’ve caught several of them on Waconia this year. Two biggest have been 6-15 about 6 weeks ago and 6-11 today.
How was your bite today? We got several bites but only boated 4, all of which were hooked outside the mouth. Probably should have down sized our cranks to see if that made a difference.
Had several buddies out using live bait that didn’t have much luck.
There are some big ones in French Lake by Faribault as well.
Lots of them in waconia, earlier in the year I have caught 10-15 on the same spot.
