There you go, new business opportunity for you.
I sent Andy a text and told him he should buy it.

So he could see the other side of the counter?
March 14, 2020 at 10:17 am #1922940A guy couldn’t go wrong with this one? Times are good we drink to celebrate! Times are bad we drink to drown our sorrows! Recession proof business!
PS Just don’t drink your own inventory on the premises or John Taffer will light you up good when he comes to rescue your bar!
March 14, 2020 at 12:35 pm #1922978If it was only that easy. Trust me restaurant bar business is not that easy.
Tongue in cheek and thus my reference to “Bar Rescue”! No way in hell I’d ever buy a bar restaurant!
March 14, 2020 at 5:36 pm #1923044I always worry when I see certain establishments up for sale, especially those that are close to home and at times I depend on for an afternoon lunch or a nice evening dinner.
The add says the owner is retiring due to health reasons. Sounds legit and likely it is.
However, there have been what seems a disproportionate amount of similar type establishments that succumb to a “kitchen fire” in the middle of the night.
There’s at least 2 or 3 that burned down on that side of the lake due to “suspicious” causes in the past.
I think the reason here for selling is likely legit, however you never know what amount of other debt the owner is burdened with.
A couple years ago the Wharf Resort went up for sale and few thought much of it other than the owners deciding to move on.
Now it has foreclosed, the restaurant is closed,
the bank owns it and will try to sell/salvage what’s left of assets and a greatly diminished business.I’m sure hoping the “Y” survives.

In my neck of the woods we are blessed with a few places that are excellent. Corner of Hwy 95 & 47 has Pine Brook which is excellent. The worse thing there is it can be hard to get seated because they are so busy.
North on 169 we have Roughcut next to Prince Bait. Also very good.
A good operator can make a go of a marginal place. I’m not a customer of the Y so I can’t really offer a opinion of the food or service. I’m sure with the location and the strong recent market somebody will be flush with cash and take a swing at the place.

For a 1st post, Matthew Jones sounds like a troll. Not saying he is, just that he sounds like one.

Personally I’d stick with Natives there brotato.
Nice fish for the kiddo

Well there went your chance to help yourself out……Are you referring to myself or Mathew Jones aka Joneser?
Joneser. In my head that was obvious.

No, not really. My buddy was the one who wanted to stop there. My vote was to head back to the cabin and drink the beer we had in the fridge. So it was actually not upsetting at all to me since it caused us to get out of there. That’s the beauty of free market capitalism when you’re a patron at an establishment and you don’t particularly feel it’s up to your taste. You don’t have to get upset. You just simply leave and don’t spend money there, which we did.
Apparently your reading comprehension isn’t the best so I’ll help you out.
Cheezes, I finally caught up to this thread and this is as far as I got on your reply before I…
If you have a point to make, don’t write a book. You lose your audience because your story is not at all compelling.
alles klar ?

Sarcasm has been been hard to judge on this site lately.
That’s for sure. In getting back to the OP, I actually have enjoyed my meals at the Y. Also enjoyed the other people that I’ve talked fishing with after coming in from the lake at the bar. Also enjoyed the $500 pull tab I pulled after the DU contest this year…..I hope the place stays around. Otherwise I’ll only have Da Boathouse at Macs Twin Bay to get a solid meal up there (I’m sure there are others still, just haven’t found them).
