I have 2 HDS Gen 3 9’s with the same updates installed, one front and one on consel. I cant see either unit with either. Network Sonar is enabled on both units. Any ideas or settings I’m missing. Fairly new install, all cables and backbone are fresh.

You will not see other units hooked up on Lowrance network unless you have them connected through a NEMA.
A Ethernet cord, connecting the units to share sonar and gps, doesn’t show up under the network.
One quick and easy way to see if they are reading is to go to the structure page and click “source”. Should read “this unit” or “hds 9” if hooked up correctly.
IF you don’t have structure scan, then go to the chart page and drop a waypoint and if it shows up on the front graph you are networked, you should be able to delete that waypoint from the front graph as well.
    Hope this helps

You can share a single transducer among multiple HDS units through Ethernet.

I found that networking sonar was extremely annoying in my use of it so I turned it off. NEMA isn’t required unless you are using the Pinpoint Gateway or you want to display other diagnostics amongst the network.

Waypoints and sonar sharing should work with just an Ethernet connection between the two. Has for me in the past, but like I said, I disabled it now.

It was mentioned to me, and this is new since the installation, that I need the ethernet cable (yellow end) connecting the two together to see or share the others sonar screen. They say the NEMA will only share transducers and way-points..Here I thought I was all set.

Ethernet you can share waypoints and sonar. It worked for me. I don’t have the boat out of storage yet to prove it to you but it did work. I mark waypoints on one unit all the time and they instantly show up on the other and those two units are only connected via an Ethernet cable. My NMEA network is ONLY connected from one HDS and my Motorguide.
Waypoints is an easy way to confirm. Sit in your boat, mark a waypoint on one unit and it should appear on the other (make sure its on).

You do have to go through settings to select which “source” you want for the sonar. If both units are powered on, you have Ethernet cable connected between the two and you have them both set to “Network Sonar” is set on both units, but with all that set properly you should then be able to choose which source you want to display.

TY Musky.. thats the best illustration to understand each function of each installation.
