NOT Morels

    These babies look a bit like a morel, but I came to find out they’re actually “stinkhorns.” They were slimy, and they did stink!

    I went to pick that one you see broken off in the photo….it’s as far as I got. Plenty of brown slime on it, that had some seriously strong odor. Never seen one. Would be the kind of thing to put in a buddy’s truck under the seat or something.

    I found a mess of Shaggy Manes one fall day and cut them thinking they’d make a great addition to that evening’s dinner table. After a couple hours in the truck I found out why you want to ice those guys….the mess of them went to inky slime.

    Those critter os yours almost appear to be false morels with the open top.

    Am I missing out on another opportunity to pick morels? Cause your just a few months late to be looking for those.
