Be thankful it’s only one.
That sucks, I’ve been looking up windshield replacements as well lately, will keep an eye out for Lund. There’s a nice retro Lund on CL I know off top my head right now. Throw it back old school

That picture looks like you’re at the Holiday Station on Industrial Blvd. Sorry I was of no other help…never had it happen. But something must have hit it. Anything in the bow that’s missing?

That’s right, Andy. I pulled over there to knock some of the jagged pieces off.
Nothing missing from the bow. It was buttoned up tight. With all the construction I wonder if I didn’t kick up a chunk of something.
I’m gonna keep my boat in my driveway for a while.
I am really surprised it’s tempered glass. That is really unsafe material for a windshield. It should be laminated glass like a car windshield.

Good point. Do boat manufactures offer laminated as an option?

Ok…good, so you didn’t have an anchor go missing.
Good luck out on Green Lake, beautiful night to be out there or anywhere on a lake tonight. Your boat will be just like a single console boat.

That’s what @nhamm did and he thought his boat was safe.

And why don’t they offer seat belts and air bags?
Here is a true kamikaze…
That sucks….. if it is like my Lund Fisherman where I had a kid throw a rock through the same side off a bridge, you need to buy both sides as a set… not sold separately. It was stupid expensive, my boat insurance covered it. Still have the driver’s side other part in the attic.
That sucks last week i had my new lund on the boat lift and a storm came through with 70 mph winds picked boat and lift up and spin 90 degrees first time in the water looks like dock rash on one side it just sucks TERRY
Bummer… my boat experienced the same thing on Mille Lacs.
A kid threw a rock or flying carp?
Tempered and laminated glass are both safety glass.
With different properties and different uses.
Well, the fishing gods were at least on my side last night. Got my brother and sister in law out and we did pretty well on multiple species. You realize how much water those windshields stop when they are gone! Good thing it’s warm because it was a bit windy and wet last night.
How are those tempered glass? Theres a reason car windshields are laminated. When a rock hits them they crack and chip not shatter like safety glass.
Tempering is just strengthening… its a process. Laminate is, as stated, a sheet of laminate in the glass. Back when windshields would “shatter” (think small explosion) the glass would break into tons of small pieces… they then started laminating them… that turned them into death traps, an occupant would be thrown forward through the windshield, break the laminate the exact size that their head doing 60 mph would fit through being cut by the tiny pieces of glass and then after the impact on the rebound, their head would be pulled “back through” the opening they created on the impact… lots of head trauma. Then they started tempering the glass and that made it much stronger and also made it to break into larger pieces (shatter proof) and even in some cases, it just cracks. (think pebble at 60 mph) They also got better with laminates too, making them stronger and more flexible. And oh yeah, wear your seat belts !
Matt,
It should be covered by your boat insurance. It’s either the $500 deductible or the $1500 out of pocket. My dads 17′ lund angler has now done this twice. Unfortunately, its the same side so the spare sitting in his shed won’t work. Since I got out of a tiller and into a wheel boat this year, my first purchase was a windshield protector from truxedo.
