I caught this pike in western Wi today. Does anyone know what the deal is with the patterning. I have never seen one quite like it.

it almost looks like a grass pickerel to me,however a tiger muskie which is a cross between a northern pike and a musky can have patterns close to that.

I looked into it and I guess people are calling them striped northern pike. I still don’t know what causes the stripes or how common it is. I watched an episode of uncut angling and they catch one similar to the patterning on my fish. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9cv2gVIDsUY

    Thanks for the info.
