    JAN 2019

    February 3 Community Input Session
Council Members Phillipe Cunningham and Jeremiah Ellison will host an Upper Harbor Terminal (UHT) community input session:

    Sunday, February 3, 2:00 – 4:00 pm

Capri Theater, 2027 West Broadway Ave.

If you would like email updates from the city click HERE to enter your email.

I will be in attendance. I enjoy other aspects of the plan, as well as dislike, but my input is going to be directly related to provide shore fishing opportunities on the project at some point as there are 3 phases to the project. I am in no way affiliated with the park board, or management, just a regular dude who loves fishing the river over northside, and if you are not able to attend please leave comments below and I can pass those along as well STRICTLY related to fishing!

Although that’s not part of the UHT project, good question. I will write that down and mention it at another time with some park people. That launch is used so little with Boom and now the redone 694 launches in close proximity I’d imagine it’s not high on the priority list.

Along with the dock at that location I’d love to see some signage in various languages on the legalities of throwing fish on shore to rot. Spring time when the roughies find their way into the creek that place can stink to high heaven at times, which I personally believe due to people thinking they are doing the right and legal thing.

That speech from Elder Chaney was one of the most powerful public speeches I’ve ever experienced.

As much as I’d love to hear real music like mos def or common, or some local talent like Slug getting on stage and blasting the river with their sounds while I’m catfishing 1/4mile away just basking in the surrealness of it all, I try to stay away from the social issues. I fish, and I fish that river, I see what happens when people who are unfamiliar with it, onto it, and experience what it has to offer can do. I like to stick to that.

Last night was not a time to bring up that point. BUT, I think it shows how extremely important it is to get some type of connection for folks to the river itself. As said by another speaker, many residents don’t even know it’s there. Once you connect to the river, you learn about the river, once you learn about the river and its history you gain context into not only your community on where it began and who it was, but who it is now and what it can become.

Wheels are turning on another project now I’ve had for some time….
