Just got back from the Brainerd Lakes area. We had 18-20 inches of ice on the small lake we were on. Just about 2-4 inches of snow on top so lake travel was excellent.

My son and I caught a nice bunch of crappies with some bonus pike, bass, and sunfish. It was fun watching him improve his technique and experiment with tackle.

My SM auger with the Solo engine is still running strong so we were the guys with a gas auger still. I did look at the electric ones at Reeds and that will probably be a near term purchase. Also my old Marcum flasher that my son now uses is almost dead so I want to buy him something for next time. I am liking my Garmin Echomap 73 Ice Fishing Bundle.

The wind was stiff so we hunkered down in the house most the time. But I did have some tip ups going too. Good times with my fishing buddy!

Nothing better then fishing with the boy. I get that opportunity every weekend at his request and it’s truly a great feeling.

Ice is great up here, and it continues to grow! Awesome fishing with kids is a specialty when they are biting.

There’s nothing like Solo 154, at 5 am trout fishing, lol.

fired right up and ate up the ice good all 23 1/2 inches of it. That’s alot of ice when cutting a spear hole
