Anyone see these yet? Looks like a pretty good setup, a case type shuttle with lithium battery for Vexilar FL series.
Introductory price of $109.

Hopefully Marcum will get a little more competitive with their prices now for the shuttle… But probably not
Battery is $80, keep the case. The shuttle case is hard, has a light for charging jigs, outlets. Much better design on the shuttle vs. this but the battery alone looks interesting.
Does it come with a charger?I have never heard of Norsk.Where are they located, any one know?

Didn’t really see this as comparable or competition with the Marcum shuttle. The Marcum shuttle is a shuttle, not a case. Case for the Marcum shuttle would be a 5 gallon bucket. Perhaps my mention of “shuttle” in the title of this post was misleading? These seem to be two differing products with this being designed for Vexilars.

Doesn’t look like it includes charger, from the website…
“Includes Battery Management System (BMS) protection circuit (no new charger necessary)”
They’re headquartered in Fargo ND
Hey guys. Rep from Norsk Fishing here to answer any questions if you have them.
On the topic of chargers: Our lithium battery is designed such that you can use your old charger. This should allow you to recharge fully in 3-5 hours. We are working on designing our own charger, though, so charge indicators align with our operating voltage and so people don’t feel uneasy about using an old charger.

Is it a lifepo4 battery?
Wlcome Norsk.I see your battery weighs 1.3 pounds, what does a wet cell 7-9 amp hour weigh. What is a Lifepo4 battery?I am interested in your set up.How long is the 109.00 price good for?
Lithium-ion. A different technology then LiFePO4.
Thanks. Too bad they are not lifepo4. Good luck with your product.
Weight comparison: A comparable sealed lead acid (SLA) at 7.5 Ah is ~7lbs. A 7Ah LiFePO4 competitor on Amazon lists their weight at 2.24 lb. so comparable 7.5Ah is going to weigh in at ~2.5lb.
So they’re ~40-50% lighter than LiFEPO4 (depending on brand) and +80% lighter than lead acid. So it’s light wnough to really surprise you.
What is a LiFEPO4 battery: a really good read up on how to decipher the differences in battery makeups can be found here: http://www.cobox-ebikes.com/296/basic-understanding-of-lipo-li-ion-and-lifepo4.html
Please keep in mind that though that this write up says you need a special charger, when ours do not.
As for the $109 price. We will only be running that for a week or two longer (no set date yet).
How does the lithium ion do in the cold? Always heard that was a concern.
How does the lithium ion do in the cold? Always heard that was a concern.
Which is why LiFePO4 is preferred…they tend to be better in the cold.
If you were trying to actually do something it would matter, but if your running a Vex..
It’ll power a Vex fine. Worst case, it only run for 30 hours.
Battery performance in the cold: The 36 to 42 hour flasher operation time in our specifications is based on a cold-soak of 12-hours, and then 36 to 42 hours of cold operation at near 0-degree F temperatures, at a 200ma power draw. This is without the use of GPS or LCD screen.
The technology inside the Featherlight is the same battery tech found inside lithium augers (Strikemaster and Ion for example), Milwaukee/Dewalt power drills, and Tesla Autos. These products/brands are utilizing Lithium-ion in the cold and are not using LiFEPO4 or SLA.
This is without the use of GPS or LCD screen.
So how long will it run a humminbird helix 5 ice that has gps and an lcd screen at full brightness? And also, you are talking about your 7.5ah battery and not your 15ah, correct? Seems like the 15ah version would be overkill.
Also just to confirm, this works with a standard lead acid 12v charger?
quite the run on one year old threads lately! is there a special going on?
