NOCO Jump Pack

I just bought a new Noco Jump pack. Primarily for back up to jump my ATV if needed.

I was reading through the fine print in the manual and it says it’s only suitable for lead-acid batteries.

The box doesn’t specify which type of 12v batteries it’s designed for. And AGM or gel batteries are very common these days and I know recently there have been posts about this topic.

But does anyone have real world experience with using these Noco jump packs and AGM batteries??

AGM batteries are a type of lead acid battery…most people just aren’t aware of it. You’re fine to use the booster pack on it

I believe an AGM is a type of lead acid battery- different construction.

I guess not supposed to be used or stored in temps below -4. Any experience with that big_g?

Everyone already said AGM is lead-acid but here is straight from Noco if it makes you feel better.

Mine has been stored in truck outdoors year round for 6 or 7 years now. I charge it maybe twice a year and it worked a few months ago.

I’ve stored and used mine many times in temps below -4. Never a problem. My wife jump started 2 back to back at work during the last cold spell. I charged it back up and back out into her car it went

^I’ve been happy with an Audew. It’s started everything from side by sides to trucks, tractor, and a houseboat slipped next to us in the local marina. Watch the reviews online and you’ll be shocked and what some can and cannot turn over. The Noco has the best marketing, but generally was rated in the middle of the pack for real life application. They do seem to be one of the more durable looking ones though.

The audew is on sale on Amazon for pretty cheap right now. I assume you have the 3000amp one?

Noco having all the X-connect adapters that work with all their chargers and jump starters is the main reason I stick with them. If I was only going to jump stuff I could get clamps on, like a car, I don’t think they’re anything too special.

I search Amazon for Audew Jump starter and came back with nothing. Are you talking about the Andeman which is on sale for $53.99. The same Noco is $299 sad

I also use the Audew. Works great. I have the 2000A jump starter. An engineer at work who is very anal about what he buys, did all the research and said the Audew is the one to buy.

I think it’s the 3000, yes. Mine goes in the truck or boat in its pretty rigid carrying case and I generally forget it. Whenever I clean the truck out I charge it (handful of times a year).

Full disclaimer, the NOCO is nice too…especially if you want probably the most durable units available + a warranty of some sort and customer service…you just pay more for it. The Audew I have has a little more grunt and is smaller per the tests that are out there online. If the brand/company switched, then I can’t speak exactly on what it is now.

Fun timing, I was out on Mille Lacs this past weekend and my truck wouldn’t start. Grabbed the NOCO and tried jumping my truck, no luck. Brought the booster into my flipover for an hour to warm it up. Tried again and fired the truck right up. Saved my ass, but had me worried for a while that I was SOL.

I just talked to our service guys about your question.
They said you won’t have a problem. They have jumped them before with our NOCO’s.
They are some great jump packs. We have a couple of thaw boost max packs and they will jump our large cranes with 2 8D batteries on 24 volt.

I’d watch the Project Farm guy’s review if I was looking for another. Bought a few Golo brand (i think ??) based off his videos in the past – they’re cheap, I’m cheap so it’s good. Definitely not the best jump pack out there but have worked perfect every time I’ve needed them. Mine are stored cold as well but a couple minutes inside my shirt and it’s warmed up ready to go when needed

I’ve had the NOCO for a few years now…don’t use it a lot but it’s always worked and it never leaves my truck. I also bring it ice fishing to charge my Garmin batteries and phone.

They are more expensive but they are on sale on amazon all the time. To each their own, but I don’t like buying cheap stuff for critical things like starting a vehicle if it’s dead. It’s like any tool…you get what you pay for.

I have both the GB70 and GB40. I bought the 70 and left it in the boat when I stored it last year. Had it wrapped so I bought the 40 for over that winter. Both work great. The 40 is smaller but if I was to pick one I would go with the 70 again.
