Tried to get a North Dakota fishing license today. Called there and was told as of today they are not issuing any out of state fishing licenses. And no word on when they start to sell them again.

Not a big deal for a lot of people. Very big deal for others.

Anyone hear of other states doing this?

Doesn’t surprise me. And it supports my post that I think fishing opened will be cancelled as well.

Been trying to license a used boat/trailer I purchase, and what a cluster that has been. Offices closed, departments closed, people sending me incorrect forms, considered non-essential. It has been a mess at best.

Yes I was. The WI license does not expire until March 31st if that’s what you’re getting at.

I tried buying my new Wisconsin license when I bought my MN, but it wouldn’t let me yet.

Just got it now, thanks for the reminder.

It’s hard to keep them all straight mad

Every year I have 4 or 5 licenses, and they’re all due on different days.

I like Ontario’s concept. They expire at the end of the year, every year…. not some random weekday sometime in the spring…… roll

I assume it’s that way for us so we don’t have to renew during the middle of ice season. It would be nice if they were all on the same day though.

Out of state licenses for the 2020 season in ND don’t go on sale until April 1st. The governor here has recently stated that Nd will not postpone the out of state fishing opener

I was proactive for the first time in my life and purchased an Ontario yearly license a few weeks ago. Have trips up there in late june and early august. Got a $1k deposit down for the June trip. That’ll be a nail bitter I’m afraid.

I called today to see why we could not purchase a non resident fishing license on line. Was told as of today they where not issuing out of state licenses.

I haven’t heard any official announcement from ND, but you should always be able to get a license because the season never closes. If you can’t, then it’s possible they stopped it because of what they saw at the ramps this weekend.

Was just looking online for some type of announcement to and couldn’t find one either.

Here is ND fish and game phone number. 701 328 6300

Let me know if you get a different answer than I did today.

Technically the season in North Dakota is April 1st through March 31st, because for whatever reason that’s when licenses are good. Residents couldn’t buy a 2020 season license until March 15th, non residents can’t buy a 2020 season license until April 1st. There was some back and forth with the governor on whether or not they would stop selling non resident licenses, his final answer was that no state has closed any fishing seasons and North Dakota will not either. Having said that ND game and fish offices are closed I think so you’ll probably have to buy the license online.

I’m perfectly fine with states suspending out of state licenses through April to see how this Covid thing shakes out. The realty is nobody should be traveling out of state right now for recreation, Fish your home water for the next month.

I’m worried that if they keep seeing out of state plates at the ramps they will shut it down for everybody. They did shut down all fishing in WA for sure. Not sure about any other states.

this is posted on the ND game and fish Facebook

    Fishing Season Note:

At this time there are no plans to cancel or alter the 2020-21 regular fishing season.

Nonresident fishing licenses for the 2020-21 season are still scheduled to be available online April 1.

Should there be any changes made in the future to hunting or fishing seasons or other scheduled events or deadlines due to COVID-19, they will be posted here and on the Department website at https://gf.nd.gov/covid-19.

Altering the season and not selling out of state licenses are 2 different things.

Just got an email that non resident sales are back in business! this is a very big deal for me–some of the places in fishing in NoDak are the ultimate in social distancing!

WSJ article shows three states with no Coronavirus: N Dakota, S Dakota & Wyoming. I suspect N Dakota wants to keep it that way.

As of this morning Wyoming has 109 cases of covid19. By tonight that number will most likely go up.
