First is to check your brake light fuse, cruise and brakes are usually tied together.

Next is to check your trailer plug adaptor box (that’s what I call it, not sure the official name)somewhere in the rear. It is tied to the two tail lights and connects to the trailer plug. Those typically go bad and short out, causing cruise control and other issues.

From my limited googling on my 2005…..ABS system can F up more stuff than it should, I had issue with mine, took out and cleaned sensors, next job is bleed the fluid with new. Have heard this can resolve issues, and cheap and easy to do.

I had cruise issues in my 09 gm, turned out the ‘switch’ (? Real term?) to the center rear light (the one on the back of the cab)was dying and making the computer think I was braking all the time, light wirked lIke it should though. Switch fixed, cruise back to normal. At least this is how it was described.

if the abs lite came on after replacing the brakes,it sounds like they disturbed a speed sensor wire that was about ready to break and it did,or,
if they used an air hammer to get the old rotor off, this probably finished off the sensor.

but yes,if the abs lite is on,your cruise control will not work as the abs module thinks one wheel is not moving at all,and the other three are spinning,so it inhibits the cruise control.

yes,if it is in fact one of the front sensors, however,it is cheaper by far to buy the entire wheel bearing hub with the sensor in it.
the sensor for what ever reason is ninety percent of the cost of the hub assembly.

for example,if the sensor is 125 and some change, the entire hub will be only ten bucks or so more and you get a new hub and bearing assembly.

its an easy fix, takes about an hour to replace, remove entire brake assembly and hang out of the way, unhook the sensor, axle nut, three bolts on the backside of the knuckle, and if you are lucky and the hub is not corroded in,you can drive it out fairly easy.

clean the bearing bore in the knuckle, apply anti-seize in the bore, reinstall the hub, torque the bolts and the hub nut to spec’s and replace everything removed.the abs code should clear itself once it sees a signal from the new sensor and your cruise will work again.

do not buy the cheap hub assembly,I can promise you it will fail within a year or two.

this is if you want to do it yourself, shop labor here would run 105 plus tax.
