I fish the Manasquan Inlet in Point Pleasant NJ. The legal size for fluke is 18″ and hard to come by on the bank (wall). Well I started the season on a good note Thursday, 2 keepers 19″ and 24″ 5lb. 2oz.

Are they good eating. I would guess filleting them is a little different than most of our fish here in the midwest. With that flat body I bet they fight rather well. Kind of like a really BIG sunfish.

They are very good eating! They are bottom fish, so for the most part they don’t really start fighting till they are lifted off the bottom. Most people filet them in quarters 2 filets each side.
A bone runs down the middle cut on the bone, than from the middle out.

One of the times I was down in Louisiana I had a flounder stuffed with butter, garlic, onions… and lump crab… to DIE FOR!

Nice fish! That’s some good eating. Nothing better than fresh seafood.

They are delicious. I was pretty proud of my first attempt to fillet one.

He is still floundering around for a response to that.
