Does anyone else think that the new rules this year are garbage? I understand that they are trying to reduce injuries and concussions but the way they are officiating is confusing. One moment a hit looks illegal and is called and the next hit looks completely clean but that little yellow flag flies up from the bottom of the screen…

I haven’t watched one play this year. But, in years past when new rules were put in to effect they called the he77 out of them in the preseason and then forgot about them in the regular season. Don’t worry about it there are new players dying to get in the league every year.

Got fined 20 grand for this…although this is pocket change for themAugust 24, 2018 at 9:20 pm #1793621Hayden that call on that sack was absolutely garbage. We can thank Rodgers for this. Like my dad used to say drink more milk make your bones stronger. You get paid millions a hit like that was nothing but a beautiful tackle
August 25, 2018 at 5:19 am #1793652I say if you want to make the game safer take the pads and helmets off.
Lund4LifePosts: 51August 25, 2018 at 5:38 am #1793659The new rules are total GARBAGE. However, this week of the preseason the refs called NOTHING. Guys were spearing each other in the face and didn’t get a penalty… Just the way I like football.

I personally don’t see anything killing the sport, but if I had to pick a real threat it’d be the ever-changing, inconsistently called “judgement call” penalties,
combined with increasing acceptance of gambling. What could go wrong there?August 25, 2018 at 8:44 pm #1793769I say if you want to make the game safer take the pads and helmets off.
I don’t know how the rates of concussions per match compare to American football, but the top levels of rugby also have issues with the frequency of brain injuries.

It would be an interesting experiment though, to see 2 NFL teams go at it without pads. How about the Packers against the Pats?
Kidding, only kidding Packer fans, geez you guys are so sensitive.

Thank Rodgers for the rule changes? Pretty sure you can thank the NFL for the ridiculous rule changes. Time to stop making excuses for Vikings failures. BTW, the rules changes ARE stupid.

Got fined 20 grand for this…although this is pocket change for themBy rule, that is a penalty whether you like it or not. Just finish the tackle and there is no fine. The extra drive with the shoulder was not necessary, if you can’t see that you are looking through purple glasses.
If a Packers defender gets flagged for a similar foul I would be thinking, “you idiot, you didn’t need to do that. Now you just cost the team 15 yds. and yourself a fine.”
I don’t like the rules either but, you have to play within the rules like it or not.

I think the person you need to be thanking for this rule is Anthony Barr. Classic case of victim blaming.
August 28, 2018 at 8:01 pm #1794313I am waiting for the NFL to implement the helmets that people wear in the Sumo wrestling matches, that people rent for parties. Let them lead with their head all day long… they will end up pile driving themselves into the turf.
