A little off topic but my kids pediatrician recommended to us that we avoid the common allergens like peanuts and eggs for their first year of life for my now 5 year old. Turns out their way of thinking has complete reversed and he now recommends exposing them to these same foods as early as possible for my now 21 month old.

I’ll agree on this one. When our now 2 year old was somewhere around 6 months he got a rice size amount of peanut butter. Very bad allergic reaction. Then same thing with eggs. Took him to a pediatrician allergy specialist who ran the full test of allergies on him, then set us up with a program to follow. By just over 1 year old he could eat anything with peanuts and eggs. They said the earlier you catch the allergy, the easier it is to beat it. I was not looking forward to having a child allergic to all egg and peanut products.

My main resolution this year is to spend at least 50 days out fishing, I think it’s important enough that I’m actually going to track it. It really doesn’t sound like a big number but between work and two boys in sports it can be difficult to find the time.

I fish fairly often, but to be honest I have no idea of how many days a year I fish. I think I’m also going to track my # of days fished this year. It would be interesting to know what the # is and with it being the start of the new year I can get a real accurate count.
