This must be Yamaha’s answer to high-horsepower “tiller” steering systems,,,,,

FryDog62Posts: 3696July 27, 2015 at 7:29 pm #1556641Add a rear casting deck to it and I’ll send the check. A better way of getting around the wimpy tiller HP rating problem than what Warrior did IMO…

Always been my beef with tillers. On those longer runs I don’t care how easy everything is to steer or control, your body is still cocked and those guys with bad backs like myself after 5 min I’m hurting.
That stupid lil steering wheel looks to be ingenious. As dumb as it looks, to be able to use it to be completely comfortable and run spots, is awesome. Get one of those sweet trucker knobs, and you’re golden
July 27, 2015 at 9:42 pm #1556668The red one is going to Lyback’s Marine, but I’m not sure when. I like the boat and am looking forward to getting in one.
The steering wheel surprised me. Get there fast and then use the trolling motor or kicker to fish.
I hear more motor manufacturers will have tiller steering options by next year.

At first glance I thought this looked ridiculous. After pondering it for a while I’m liking it more and more. 16-19′ tiller boats now have a way out to add additional HP! A removable steering wheel would be sweet. It wasn’t that long ago that people laughed at ranger when they entered the walleye market. Yarcraft is on to something here.
July 27, 2015 at 11:14 pm #1556678What I think is missing is the 12″ GPS screen most wheel drivers like to have directly in front of them while at the helm. Looking at this seat & steering position, you’ll have to be turning back to see the displays,,,,

Of course, a 1785BT with this concept and a 115 or 150hp rating would be sweet.

Yes, true for the 20 footer, but I was selfishly thinking/hoping that this concept would trickle down to the 1785 or maybe a 186 tiller(?) that would benefit from more power.
I’ll get off my stump now but Yarcraft please now add the rear casting deck option like Backtroller and Tuffy do. The room is there from the photos and it makes it a much more versatile boat. Not everyone wants the disadvantage of casting from a “short” position in the back of the cockpit!

CaptainMuskyPosts: 22858July 28, 2015 at 2:48 pm #1556815Let me preface by saying, I am not a tiller guy, but I think that steering wheel is pretty sweet. To me its obvious. After Mercury bought Mertens there was no real solution for other outboards in the BIG tiller war. Now there is one.
