New WX2190 livewell questions

I took my new 2190 out to Chamberlain South Dakota for the inaugural voyage. All worked great except:

I could not get the recirculate function to work. The live well would fill just fine but when I went to turn it on to recirculate on the timer I could never get it to pump any water, I could hear the pump running but no water! I tried it several times through the two days but no luck. This is my first Skeeter so I am wondering if I had something incorrect in a button or valve settings or are Skeeters prone to air locks as I have had that with my Lunds and very occasionally with my last boat which was a Ranger.

Any feedback or insight would be appreciated

I can’t say anything directly about your Skeeter or any other brand but I’ve seen a number of posts where a new boat didn’t have a hose connected to the fitting right from the factory.

I’ll bet a quarter that this would be the case (possibly, maybe, I think).

Since the pump is running was there any water in the hull when you pulled the plug?

Either way, it’s under warranty and check directly with your dealer.

Sometimes when the recirc pumps get installed the hoses pull down on them before the silicone is dry or if the nut isn’t tight enough, it will twist the pump. This causes it to air lock. Sometimes the fix is to cut the hose a bit shorter so it’s not pulling so hard on the pump and sometimes it’s just to reseal and tighten the pump so it stays straight up and down.

Probably just an air lock. Mine will do this occasionally I just force some water into the intake and then all is good.

Yep my 1850 does it too. If you can get to the hose just nudge it a little bit and it will start pumping.

I usually just take a plastic bottle and put it up to intake and squeeze forcing water into pump. Sucks when the water in live well is cold.

Does recirculate pump have a separate nozzle from the fill pump nozzle? If so, was the nozzle for the recirculate pump opened up or could it be screwed in too far and closed off?

Hats off to Bryan. We took off the hose and straightened the pump so it was vertical and re attached the hose and made sure the pump stayed straight….that was all it took. Works like a champ.

    Thanks to everyone for responding.
