It appears the new world record Rocky Mountain Elk was shot on the last day of the year and season in Washington.
The guy that shot the Bull has 86 Bulls under his belt, 12 over 400” and has completed the NA 29 with his bow.

The hunter mentions AZ as where he expected to see the next world record bull come from.
The Spider bull was the previous record and came from Utah.

Pretty good write up of went down in the link.

Agree it was a tough read. Hunters are somehow worse than fisherman

Oh my! That is a giant! Congrats to that dude and he definitely has put in his time.
You guys remember that one from NW MN that got caught up in the mud after jumping a barbwire fence and died? That one was huge too, though it wasnt shot. The rack scored 458 4/8 after the mandatory 60-day drying period.

That is what I was thinking. The hunter has been taking some backlash on Social Media for baiting and how he gained permission.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but you have to hunt them where they live and with the techniques that are allowed to get a chance sometimes.

I read the article last week. The guy and his hunting buddies put in a ton of time. All the whiners showed up after he shot it.
    Congrats to him!

That thing is a hoss! Congrats to him. Hunters love hating on other hunters, as do fishermen, it’s a significant anchor on advancing our common goals imo. And as someone who hunts metro whitetail bucks, that likely are in neighborhoods frequently like this bull, I can say it’s easier in some ways and harder in different ways.
