Hey all, my girlfriend and I posted our first ice fishing video to YouTube today. Any feedback is much appreciated!

    Thanks!

    Looks good to me!

I have a Silver 3+ and some questions.

Did you use GoPro Studio to edit the video?

Did whatever video editor you use automatically put that GoPro shot at the beginning?

Do you use a color filter, because I noticed the raw video from my go pro seems a little washed out?

What export setting do you use to export (if using GoPro Studio) the YouTube setting?

I know, I need to read the manual. Sitting down with it tonight.

If anyone wants to chime in on other editing software out there, please PM me.

Drill a second hole for your flasher so you don’t have to keep fighting with it when pulling through the ice.

    Great job.

    Since you asked for thoughts…
Try to be more inconspicuous about catching fish. Kneel down, keep back to people and don’t hold the rod and reel over your head. These little things will limit the attention of others. Its kind of like waving a net around during summer. Things to think about.

I dont actually edit them myself, my friend does and I know he uses the GoPro studio and I know he exported to the YouTube setting. Also, we did not use any filters!

Thanks for the advice! We actually dont usually keep fish and we’re not too worried about other people seeing us catch fish. We actually wouldnt mind if people came over and fished around us. Want everyone to enjoy the sport as much as we do!

What lake was that? It looks rather familiar! Is it near St. Johns?

Cool, thanks for the info. I did look at some of my raw videos from the weekend and the color didn’t look bad. I get a little anal about using filters that bump the saturation up. I still want it to look natural.

I ended up reading the manual and got some clarification on things that I was assuming with the software.

It is not, it is a long skinny lake in the west metro!

    Hi,

This is my first icefishing video as well. Made with Hero 3+. Enjoy. It only takes a minute:

I am also guessing….you need extensions and a powerhead!

Well there is ice 7-8 months a year but it is so dark in mid-winter (sun doesn’t literally raise at all at some point) that spring makes much more sence to most people. It is also freezing cold at winter.. It can be less than 40 degrees celsius.

I live personally in south of Finland where conditions are not as tough.

    some more thoughts….

    more and different camera angles…

its fun to play around with the different gopro mounts and it makes the video that more interesting. maybe some underwater footage? maybe some release shots? the gopro head mount gives the audience an idea of what you are seeing and doing, maybe set up the gopro to show your flasher? i dunno, have fun with it….i love making videos with my gopro, ive done a few ice fishing videos and some muskie fishing videos as well ) keep it up!! ;)

Thanks for all your comments! Happy that you have all watched it. In future I would appreciate commenting below the video in Youtube aswell so I will remember your comments better. D

Ice was about a meter thick so there wasn’t really anything I could do about taking underwater footage. I had selfie stick and was a bit frustrated not being able to take an advantage of it.

Have you shared your videos Brian Anderson here? Would be cool to see what you have done!

I am going to share whole video of our trip soon. Where would you suggest I post it? It will last about 10 minutes I suppose. There will be much more different camera angles. I didn’t use headset too much since I wanted to use mount/tripod as much as possible to get stable footage.

The fish that my friend got was arctic trout. Are you familiar with it?
