I just joined the In Depth Outdoor forum and really interested how many people are on here from the Sioux Falls reigon. This will be my first full season ice fishing this area and was looking for some advice. I grew up fishing the Mississippi River so this lake stuff is pretty new to me. Just drop a line on here or I work a handfull of times at Dakota Angler in Sioux Falls. Speaking of that, I hope everyone is getting excited for the new location!!! I dont’ really have to many buddies that like to go battle the cold so I’m usually out alone and where’s the fun in that! This forum seems like a great resource and looking forward to meeting and possibly fishing with some fellow anglers.

I know a bunch of guys who ice fish out of SF. They also spend some time at the Angler. I’m guessing you’ll meet them over time. It’s a bit of a jaunt but you get up to the pothole region and the fishing can be second to none.

I worked up at Dakota Angler for 10 years part time. Now live in Aberdeen.

Sioux City, but drive through on my way up to the Webster/Waubay area. Last year Quienten B had a get together, was a nasty cold and windy day but a bunch of people still made it up. Keep posting, you’ll meet a few sooner or later. Pete

Welcome to IDO. I used to live in Brandon (near SF) so I fished around there quite a bit. Now I moved to NE IA so I fish the Mississippi now.

There is some decent fishing around Sioux Falls but the best bites are up in the Glacier Region around Waubay. Comparisons between the Mississippi and out there are very few. Took me awhile to figure stuff out. Make some treks with guys that have been fishing there for awhile and it will shorten the learning curve substantially
