New Terrova- another quick question

This is the base of the trolling motor head. There is a universal transducer cable coming out of the head I don’t plan on using. Does this little port pop open and I can remove it?

Sorry for the dumb question I even read the whole manual last night and didn’t find an answer on this

Yes that plyable plug can come out. I would leave it in tho for use, It helps keep water from getting in.

You have to remove the screws to take the cap off then the ducer cable will unscrew in side the head. If you have a cap to replace the cable with that would be advisable.

Yeah there is no way that cord is even plugged in right now. So you’re thinking I have to take the head apart either way? Whether to plug it in and use it…. or remove it?

What is the cord even used for? If I had a depth finder mounted on the bow?

    It’s the US2 transducer cable.

Yes its so you can have a bow mount depth finder. I would leave it alone in case you decide to add one later.

If you want to take it out ( you can always put it back in) remove the 4 screws and pop the top off the head unit. It will unscrew at the junction at the head.

So what do most guys do? Unplug and remove it, or leave it dangling there?

It’s not for use with the optional Heading Sensor, correct? So if it’s only used for a 2nd bow mount depth finder I’m guessing a lot of guys don’t have or use it

A 2nd bow mount depth finder? Are you using a single unit up there or not?

I assume most people use it for a bow mount depth finder, unless you really want SI and mount a SI transducer on there.

It is not used with the heading sensor. And speaking of that, while it may be optional, I think it would behoove you not to install and use it because that’s what the jog feature while spot-locked which is a pretty nice feature.

US 2 cable in only a couple inches long under the hard. Its a chrome threaded fitting. Is it possible this is the US 2 adaptor? If it is, unscrew it from the US 2 and save.
What does the end of it look like. Or, Its the IPilot Link cable, if you have Link.

I would leave it there, that way if you ever sell it the next guy or gal may want to use it and they will not have to low ball you if selling it!

The Heading Sensor is a separate discussion then. Yes I would be much more likely to use that feature, however, since that requires another mounting location plus power, I am going to hold off on that. I’m not really sure how necessary Jog is anyway….. I can pretty much do the same thing manually by pressing a couple buttons.

Back to this particular cable then. If it’s solely a universal transducer cable, primarily used for a 2nd bow graph? Then I can’t see using it anytime soon. Guess I’m just surprised it’s there to begin with…. seems more like add-on feature for those who run a second graph but maybe I’m in the minority IDK

This is the other end. Still zip tied to the main cable

I just leave it. I have torn into a terrova before. Not that complicated actually. Mostly plug and play stuff.

Does 2nd bow graph mean that you will only have one graph in the boat, just at the helm?

Jog is quite nice. Much easier than trying to move over manually. The heading sensor does not need to be near the trolling motor at all and can be mounted out of the way pretty much anywhere in the boat since it’s a compass, not a GPS. And the power draw is nearly nothing at all.

I will probably do the heading sensor at some point.

I am only going to have my main graph at the helm, yes. I guess I did not realize the amount of guys running around with two graphs.

Then its an extension cable for the US2. Easy to remove, but youll have to take 4 screws out to do it. Id get rid of it if I wasnt utilizing it.. But thats just me.

That’s what I was thinking also, but wanted to see if I was missing something

I would say the majority of people are running 2 graphs, probably more people running 3-4 graphs than 1. If not in use, electrical tape the end up to keep it clean.

I’m gonna have to disagree about the 3 or 4 graphs but I get your point. It’s probably just easier and cheaper for Minn Kota to manufacture this way since there is a large segment that wants 2 graphs
