New Starting Battery Flooded or AGM?

Running a Suzuki 4 stroke 175 HP and its time for a new battery. Trying to decided between the usual Group 27 flooded battery and the pricey AGM sealed batteries that run around $300. Are these pricey batteries worth the money. I fish big water and reliability and running electronics all day are factors.

I would go with a group 31 flooded, that being said my verado requires a AGM, which I just purchased. I believe Suzuki does not require it? Anyway, no matter how hard I try to keep my batteries in shape, they only last so long, no matter what, just my opinion

AGM’s seem to cost twice as much for a reported life about twice as long as flooded. I personally don’t see much difference. I buy flooded because I just refuse to spend that much on a battery.

    AGM
The ones that i have lasted long enough to make the extra cost worth it. I will probably never buy another flooded battery again.

AGM also. One doesn’t have to spend 300 or so for an Odyssey or Northstar AGM,when a Duracell AGM will do,and still be better than the best flooded cell battery. You can get those for around 160 for a 31 series at Sam’s.And with no maintenance/off-gassing issues.

Thanks guys. wondering if the on board charger I have (only 5 years old) will do?

Boom. Nailed it. Buy an AGM and yes, you can find them for well below $300. Try Cabelas, they usually run $50 a few times a year.

Is this still true? I’ve been keeping an eye and haven’t see this after the BPS merger.
