I just saw this video on the Lund Tips email. It promotes a lever-lock Sport Trak bracket that would be great for rod holders:

Anyone know where to find them?

Found them at Jerry’s boat catalog online

They are called Lund Qwik Clip Sporttrak Bracket. I tried to attach the web site address but it won’t allow me for some reason.

I have a 45 degree Cisco mount for my LiveScope pole for my boat. That thing is rock solid. It all depends what you want to mount on it whether to go plastic or aluminum.

My Lund Sport brackets have held up very, very well. My brackets have lasted 10 years without one ever breaking and I use them alot. I have 11 of them mounted around my boat, eight for rod holders and 3 for holding Rapala tool kits (1 on each side of the boat and 1 up front). I love them. Anywhere I happen to be fishing in my boat, I can have rod holders pliers or cutters within arm’s reach and I can easily adjust any of them to exactly where I want them.
I got an email from Lund this morning too with a video about the new bracket design and I think it looks really good.

Those new ones look really bad to me.

Sure they’re much quicker to attach and adjust, but that’s about it IMO.

All of the load has to go thru one single point of contact now where the steel t-bolt is. On the old ones the stress from the load was well distributed over the entire length of the sliders. Now its all concentrated. I bet they wobble a lot, and will stress crack relatively quickly where the plastic meets that bolt.

It’s hard to really judge them until you use them though, isn’t it?

Well, since I won’t ever be using them I’ll leave my judgment with my initial opinion based on the videos and photos I’ve seen. I bought the 4-pack of the extrem max brackets yesterday for about 1/2 the cost. They look much better to me.

    Cheers!

I was planning on buying the Ram Balls – size C – have had great luck with them and seem waaaaaaay easier to mount and move than the Lund ones.

Which ones? Do they make one that is actually directly able to mount into the sport-trak rail without modification?
