Looking at hummingbird helix 5 or 7 ice package. Already have a couple flashers. Really like the features of the helix. How does everyone like them compared to a regular flasher?

I love my Helix 7 for ice fishing and it has a traditional flasher mode if you prefer it. I prefer the O-Scope and the 2-D view myself.

This is going to be an unpopular response on this site…but I am not in love with mine. I like it on the ice (but don’t love it) and dislike it in the boat. In fact half the time it stays at home when I take the boat out. I don’t think it gives me anymore or better info than my old Gen 1 HDS gives me. My 2cents.

If yo do buy one I would recommend the 7. My buddy has a 5 and the screen seems tiny compared to my 7. Also keep in mind the batteries don’t last all day long compared to a vexilar or similar flasher with the factory battery so you might as well plan on spending another $100 and getting a amped outdoors or Dakota lithium.

I just saw the other day scheels had a free $50 gift card deal going on if you buy one.

I have to admit that after switching the boat to Garmin this year, i think my Helix ice will be next to go. Same frustrations with my big Helix was not storing settings on a regular basis, my ice Helix seemed to do that alot more, plus the overall menu structure is too many levels to get through for my liking.

Love my Helix 7. Just make sure you get a lithium battery. It’s a must with this bigger, more powerful units.

Love mine. Can’t beat the features for that price, in my opinion.

I’d love the new fangled livescope, bit we don’t all have thousands to spend on ice fishing units.
